good to find a hotel
it's easy to find hotel around the world, more important it's cheeper!
Bad to Good experience
I recently tried to make reservations on hotel.com, I thought I had completed the transaction and waited for my email comformation. I never received it, I called the 800 number, and spoke with a representative that was horrible, I asked to speak to a manager and he supposedly put me on hold, but really hung up. I called back and spoke with a different representative that was great. He was very understanding and helped me figure out my reservations. I would shop here because hotels.com does have some decent representatives available.
A good tool
For the most part hotels.com is a great site for finding hotels although some of the hotel reviews are very outdated. It would also be nice to be able to book a car & hotel together as a package as some other websites offer.
Handy search tool
I like the fact that hotels.com allows you to search not only by city, but also by proximity to landmarks. For someone booking a hotel in an unfamiliar city, that can be a real help. I booked a trip for my boss awhile ago in a city I didn't know, and this was so nice because he wanted the hotel closest to his departure point. I went to hotels.com, and my problem was solved.
Also, their latest program rewards registered customers by awarding one free night for every ten nights booked on the site. One word of caution- be aware that by using a coupon code, your stay will not count toward this program. If I could give hotels.com one bit of advice it would be to lose this policy. Sure, I've saved a couple of bucks, but is it really necessary to punish me by making my multi-night stay worth ZERO in the loyalty program? That doesn't make me feel quite as loyal. I suppose if you do the math for your particular booking, you can decide whether using the coupon is worth it.
